I didn't see it until I wanted it

As we walk through the different paths in life, I wonderful how many things we miss!
It might be a friend in need or an opportunity waiting to be seized!
How many things have we missed.

It was not very long ago that I too almost missed something!

It wasn't until I rebelled against the norms of my life and bought a camera that I was inspired to start a new chapter in my life with a camera in my hand.

As I stood in Best Buy with my husband and three of my very close friends on Black Friday of 2009 , I looked at the beauty of that Nikon that I had walked past many times wanting it more and more every time I did.
"I really want it" I said to my hubby. He looked at me and smiled not really giving me a "yes" or a "no" look. "I have the money for it. It's not like I can't afford it" I said. One of my friends said, "Nilo, you can't buy it. It is too expensive." And that was that! I walked away from the beautiful camera feeling sadder than ever!

"You can't buy it!": I couldn't get that thought out of my mind. How dare someone tell me I can't afford anything with my own money? I am an adult and I can do what I want with it! How dare he say that?

As I though about it more and more, I became very angry with myself. You see: I had never purchased anything like that in the past because I was always afraid of something. I always liked to play it safe, and it wasn't my friend's fault. He knew me. He knew very well that I wouldn't buy it because I play it safe. Always!

So, I went out and bought it. It felt so good to do something for myself for a change. It felt great to hold it in my hands and say to the world: I bought it, and you can never ever tell me what I can or cannot do anymore!!!!

Ever since then, my eyes have been opened to many new opportunities around me!
With a camera in your hand, you tend to see the world differently, and I came to realize that! That realization is renewed every time I see something new I hadn't see before. Every time I notice something new, I think to myself that I wouldn't have noticed this if I hadn't rebelled and thrown fear out the window!!!

That is where my passion started to take shape!
